Within the framework of Çukurova Regional Preliminary Development Plan, initially, some determination studies have taken place as regards to existing situation by benefiting regional statistics. Those findings have been attained by using basic economic and social development indicators, indicators pertaining to human resources, agriculture, industry, tourism and energy sectors as well as data on port and free trade zones.
In following phase, some studies made for the region have been examined and then strengths and weaknesses of the region along with possible opportunities and threats have been determined through the meetings with regional actors. Subsequent to the studies performed in this scope, the vision of Çukurova Region was defined as 'Cukurova will be the heart of the Eastern Mediterranean- an entirely developed region with its urban and rural areas; competitive in fields of agriculture, industry, tourism, logistics and energy; the gateway of the country to the world with its harbour and its free trade zones', and in accordance with the vision, basic objective and priorities were identified as follows:
· To introduce economic and social potential in order to improve the attractiveness of the region and to make publicity of the region both in national and international-wide, · To develop human resources capacity and to ensure effective management of migration, · To support activities in connection with increasing production and employment in the region.
